What are the benefits of mediation?

Ø  Court and legal fees can add up quickly.  Mediation can achieve a resolution much more cost effectively. *

Ø The mediator controls the process and helps to facilitate the solution, but does not have control of the outcome.  The individuals involved in the mediation are responsible for owning the problem and reaching an agreement.  Because the solution is not dictated to them by a third party outside of the issue, the agreement that is reached is more likely to be satisfactory to all.

Ø  Mediation is immediate.  Once an appointment is set, the amount of time that it takes to reach a resolution is up to the litigants.  In as little as one session, an agreement can be drawn and signed.
